Fall Chinook fishing has been slowing down, but a few fish are still available. The Nestucca is predicted to stay under 7 ft. most of the week, but check the conditions before heading out. Bobber fishing bait, back-bouncing, back-trolling plugs or divers and bait, or casting spinners can all be effective methods.

Anglers are reminded that the Nestucca is closed to all salmon fishing above First Bridge (near Beaver) Aug. 1 to Dec. 31, and that there is NO wild coho retention in the rivers and bays this year.

A few steelhead have shown up at the Cedar Creek hatchery trap and that means Three Rivers and the lower Nestucca should have some fish around, but overall it’s still early and fishing has been slow. Drift fishing baits or bobber fishing with jigs, beads, or bait are favorite techniques.
