The board will meet from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Olympic Inn (2627 South 6th Street) to review seven project proposals. The agenda also includes discussion of development of board priorities and funding strategies, as well as planning for the 2019 program reauthorization. The meeting is open to the public, and there will be an opportunity for public comment. After the meeting, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the board will tour several facilities related to the reintroduction of anadromous runs to the upper Klamath.
On Saturday, May 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the board will tour several projects and facilities in Klamath County. Members of the public may accompany the group during the tour but must provide their own transportation and meals. Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program’s seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.
