Fall Chinook fishing on the Siuslaw river/bay has been starting to improve in the lower estuary. Fishing should continue to improve throughout the month of September and into October. Fish are starting to spread throughout the system as water temperatures cool and are beginning to stack up waiting for the next big rain event. Best techniques include trolling herring/spinners and bobber fishing with bait.
**Reminder: All wild coho must be released for the 2018 fall salmon season.
Sea-run cutthroat will begin entering the lower river later this month and into the fall. These fish are very aggressive, respond well to flies and lures, and can be up to 20-inches long.
Trout fishing is open in streams and river open. Fishing is restricted to artificial flies and lures, May 22- Oct 31.
