We have seen this stretch really pick up in the last week or so. Part of that is due to the cooler temperatures at night, and that has cooled the water temperature. It is still plenty warm during the day and we have been catching a lot of nice fish on terrestrial patterns. The Henry’s Fork Hopper in size 10 has been very productive. We have also seen a lot of flying red ants in the afternoon hours. The Henry’s Fork Honey ant in size 16 and 18 is a very good pattern. With some cloud cover, we have seen some of the first Mahogany duns for the season. I like to use a size 16 Thorax. I also use a Tilt wing done 16 and 18.

The Box has been fishing consistently. We are now past labor day, so the recreational floaters are pretty much gone. The weather is cooler, so the water conditions are better. The guides are catching plenty of fish on small size #18 zebra midges in brown and red. Perdigones of any variety work well here. We do the best with the size # olive Spanish bullet quill. You can also do well with smaller size 8 and 10 pat’s rubberlegs. ...... Read More
