With flows finally starting to come down, steelhead anglers will find fish scattered throughout the river. January is a very good month to target steelhead. With flows still fairly high, anglers will find fish in more of the moving water, but as flows drop and clear, steelhead will be hanging in the pools or near structure. This river is primarily a boat river with a lot of private land, but anglers can find some public access at the Elk River Hatchery or ODFW's Ironhead property.
