Shaver Lake Fish Report

The spring like weather at Shaver Lake brought out a few more boats than the previous week, but only a few trollers found many fish to catch. Dick Nichols, of Dick's Fishing Charters, reported one boat reported catching some rainbows and several 2nd year kokanee. All of the kokanee were released while still in the water. Other trollers reported continued slow fishing. Blade/crawler combinations including Trout Busters with a tip of corn on the first hook and a tip of crawler on the second hook were the best trolling for trout. Captain Jack's Super Hoochies in pink or orange with corn had the best results on kokes. The island, the Point and in front of Shaver Marina were some of the better locations. The kokes are only about 9 to 10 inches and should be released while still in the water. The kokanee were found at 25 feet deep while the trout were in the top 15 feet deep. Bank fishermen report a few catchable size trout being landed with Power Bait or crawlers but no big fish reported. The point, dam and road's one and two are the better locations for bankies.
