Fishing was fair to good on the Nestucca last weekend. The Nestucca is predicted to bump up a little, due mostly to snow melt in the coast range, the middle of the week, but should be fishable throughout the week and dropping during the weekend. There should be good numbers of broodstock hatchery fish and wild steelhead throughout the system. Float fishing jigs, beads, or bait, drift fishing, nymphing, and swinging flies or spinners are all good techniques.
Anglers are reminded that the upper Nestucca River from Moon Creek (near Blaine) to Elk Creek, closes to steelhead angling on April 1, to protect spawning wild steelhead and out migrating juveniles; so this Saturday is the last day for winter steelhead on the upper part of the river. Downstream of Moon Creek remains open.
Three Rivers is getting on the low side, but there are fish throughout the system.
